20th Australian HACCP Conference

We are pleased to announce the 20th Australian HACCP Conference. It will be held from the 27-29 August 2013 in Melbourne

Some of the key topics for this year's event will explore Australia's role in a Global marketplace, Australian technical updates and new issues for food exportation. The format has changed this year to include concurrent sessions. This will enable attendees to select the most relevant topics to their business and job roles. We can confirm the following speakers for the event:

  • Major General John Hartley AO (Retired), Global food security in the 21st century and Australia's role. What will be Australia’s role in helping alleviate possible future world crises in the supply of safe, quality food in the face of pressing issues such as population growth, access to food, water scarcity, climate change, and governmental policies?
  • Greg Warren, General Manager, Food Bank Australia, Food scarcity in Australia: Quality food supply in times of individual and community crisis. Foodbank rescues edible but surplus food and groceries from the country’s farmers, manufacturers and retailers, providing a conduit between food industry surplus supply and welfare sector need.  Greg will outline the vital and complex task of distributing safe, quality food to the community, for both everyday nutritional requirements of individuals to community supply in times of natural disaster.
  • Bill McBride, Managing Director, FoodLink Management Services & Asia Pacific Representative of the SQF Institute & Chair - Working Group on Auditor Competence for the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), Global Food Safety Initiative Update - Global Issues, Local Action, Bill will provide an essential update from the Global Food Safety Institute particularly in its current areas of focus including; the definition of food safety requirements along the entire food chain to cover scopes like feed, distribution and packaging; a focus on food safety auditors to bring insurty experts to a common consensus on the skills, knowledge and attributes.
