Advancing Food Safety (AFS) is proud to announce the addition of two new trainers to their Australian team.
Susan Fox is the AFS Queensland representative, based in Brisbane. Susan gained her food technology degree from Queensland University, Gatton Campus, and after a short period with Edgell Birds Eye at Cowra, NSW, returned to Brisbane to join RM Gow, and then Lindgren, which subsequently became Mauri Ingredients and then Kerry Ingredients. Susan was with Kerry for 16 years, latterly as National Quality Systems Manager based at the Altona Plant in Melbourne.
Susan has now returned to Brisbane and is looking forward to reconnecting with the Queensland food industry in her new role.
Ruth Alcock has joined the AFS Sydney office from Snow Confectionery where she worked for thirteen years, most recently as Quality Assurance Manager. A graduate of the University of Sydney in Chemical Engineering, Ruth went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Food Technology from the University of New South Wales. Ruth worked at Streets Ice Cream in process development and then the Anglican Retirement Villages Food Services as a food technologist before joining Snow Confectionery, where she was closely involved in the implementation of WQA and SQF 2000.
AFS was established over 16 years ago and has built a reputation as leaders in food safety and HACCP training for the food and associated industries. AFS is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) with VETAB and provides national competencies from the Food Processing Training Package, as well as proprietary and technical food safety training to clients across Australia, New Zealand and the Asia Pacific. AFS is also registered with RABQSA, and is a licenced training provider for SQF, BRC, and IFS.
AFS also convenes the annual HACCP Conference series in Australia (now in it’s 16 th year), and conferences for the Australian Allergen Bureau.
Ruth and Susan join AFS at a time of expansion of food safety training into US and Asian markets as well as Australia and new Zealand. They will assist the AFS team to plan, implement, and resource internal and public training courses in these markets whilst maintaining the technical integrity on which the AFS reputation is built.
