
Food Safety Management: Implementation and Maintenance Packages
Need assistance in implementing or maintaining certification to WQA, BRC, SQF, Coles requirements or ISO 22000?
All the major food safety management standards require staff at certified facilities to be competent not only in the requirements of the standard, but for HACCP team members to be trained in HACCP, operating staff to be aware of their food safety responsibilities, and internal auditors to be skilled. In addition, there is increased emphasis on senior management commitment and involvement in the food safety management system.
AFS can offer assistance for food businesses which are either implementing or maintaining WQA, SQF, BRC, Coles requirements, or ISO 22000. The packages will vary depending on the size, complexity, or needs of individual food businesses, but as an indicator:
Example of an Implementation Package
- Senior management awareness session (2 hrs)
- Implementation Course for the relevant Standard, customised to your needs (2 days - max 10 delegates)
- HACCP training for the HACCP team (2 days - max 10 delegates)
- GAP audit against the nominated food safety standard
- GMP training for operators involved in the food safety management system (4 hrs – max 20 employees)
- Internal Food Safety Auditor Training (2 days – max 10 delegates)
- Assistance with selection of a Certification Body
- Mentoring and advice through to the initial certification audit.
Example of a Maintenance Package
- Review of certification audit findings and corrective actions
- GMP training for operators involved in the food safety management system (4 hrs – max 20 employees)
- Internal Food Safety Auditor Training (2 days – max 10 delegates)
- GAP audit prior to next certification audit
- Mentoring and advice through to next certification audit.

Notes:
- Packages can be modified to allow for the integration of additional standards or for businesses with multiple standards.
- Agreements are for a fixed term with agreed outcomes. Payment terms can be spread across the agreed period.
- Competency units from the national Food Processing Training Package can be offered for HACCP, GMP and Internal Food Safety Auditor Training.
